Tricked Out Custom Truck Wheels

When driving down the roads these days, you can't avoid seeing all those tricked out custom truck wheels rolling down the highway.

Wheel and tire upgrade applies to new and old cars, trucks and SUV's. It is done to enhance the look of the car and, as many owners claim, to improved the car's performance.

The custom truck wheel industry has grown in the past few years to a billion dollar industry and there are over a hundred big companies and numerous smaller ones that deal exclusively in upgrades.

The rim can be made of aluminum alloy or steel which is usually chrome plated. The change in appearance is very noticeable. The trend theses days is to make the car or truck look like a racer by upgrading to spinner wheels in which the hub of the wheel keeps spinning after the car has stopped.

Custom alloy wheels come in chrome or polished aluminum or painted in hyper silver, white, black or gray.

The strength of the custom alloy wheels can reduce tire deflection and rollovers. The reduced weight of the truck because of the change from steel to alloy improves accelerating and braking. The brake system cools down quicker because alloy is such a good conductor of heat. It helps dissipate heat from the brakes.

The cost of custom truck wheels range from about $125 a piece to over $5,000. The average package should cost between $200 to $400 each wheel.

One thing should be noted; sizing up should be done the corrects way so not to add weight that comes with larger wheels and tires. Some compensation should occur, like by using lower profile tire with a larger diameter wheel.
